After School Project

Dyken Pond Center offers after school programs to all elementary grades and middle school. Descriptions of some of our classes are below. We also offer Project Based Learning programs and Service Learning programs to all grades as well.

Dyken Pond collaborated with the Miller Hill Elementary School and the Rensselaer Plateau Alliance in 2011 for a Service Learning Project. Dyken Pond staff provided educational programs on birds and their habitats. Students in fifth grade visited Dyken Pond and created field guides to birds that they observed and learned about. Visit this link to see their creations.

Students in fourth grade built bluebird and wood duck boxes. We collaborated with the Rensselaer Plateau Alliance who will be giving the boxes out free to landowners who live on the Rensselaer Plateau. For information on how you can receive a free bluebird or wood duck box visit this link

Butterfly Garden at Dyken Pond Center
