Earth Day Volunteer Projects 2020

We will miss working with all of our volunteers this year on Earth Day!  Please contact Lisa or Josh if you’d like to take on one of these projects at dykenpond@gmail.com or 518 658-2055. Let us know if you have more advanced skills and would like to take on a more detailed project. Here is a list of projects that an individual or family can take on at your own time and pace:

Adopt A Trail:  Adopt a section or complete trail. Check and clear the trail once per month for fallen debris. Trim overhanging branches and small saplings. Let us know if there are larger trees down.

Adopt A Garden: Adopt an entire garden or one section of our wildflower, vegetable or pollinator garden.  Weed, tend and mulch on a frequent basis or spend an hour on your next visit. We’ll show you where we need help!

Litter Patrol: Bring out a plastic bag on your next hike and patrol the grounds for any litter. Pack out.

Pull  Invasive Plants: Remove garlic mustard. Note: makes a great pesto. We’ll provide the recipe!

Wire Pine Cones for our Winter Wreath Sale.

Folk Art Fish: Put 30 of our folk art fish up on the outdoor railing at Cabin 2. We’ll supply all you need.

Art Mosaics: We have four art mosaic signs that need to go out. We’ll supply the tools, but at least two people needed to carry the signs, they are a little heavy!

Build a Bird Box: If you have rough cut pine and nails at home, build a bluebird box. We’ll supply the plan.

Create trail signs: For the more skilled person, create small directional wooden signs for the trails. Call us for more info.
