The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment.&#8221; <\/em>For more information, visit the official Geocaching website: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geocaching.com\/play\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.geocaching.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Dyken Pond Center has created a beginner&#8217;s\/easy series of caches.&nbsp; They are located throughout the Center, just off trails and in easy terrain.&nbsp; They can be found near:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>#1&nbsp; &#8220;The Sentinels&#8221;&nbsp;<strong><span id=\"uxLatLon\">N 42\u00b0 43.563 W 073\u00b0 26.159<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>#2&nbsp; &#8220;Pot of Gold&#8221;&nbsp;<strong><span id=\"uxLatLon\">N 42\u00b0 43.574 W 073\u00b0 25.750<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>#3&nbsp; &#8220;Snag it While you Can&#8221;&nbsp; &nbsp;<strong><span id=\"uxLatLon\">N 42\u00b0 43.566 W 073\u00b0 25.898<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>#4&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8220;Northern&nbsp; Newt Nursery&#8221; <strong><span id=\"uxLatLon\">N 42\u00b0 44.065 W 073\u00b0 26.042<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>#5&nbsp; &nbsp; &#8220;Land of 1,000 Dead Trees&#8221;&nbsp;<strong><span id=\"uxLatLon\">N 42\u00b0 43.315 W 073\u00b0 26.709<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li>#6. &nbsp;&#8220;Nest of Eggs&#8221; &nbsp;<strong>N 42\u00b043.785\u2019 &nbsp;&nbsp;W 073\u00b026.048&#8242;<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>The Center is at&nbsp; N 42\u00b043.405\u2032&nbsp; W 073\u00b026.114\u2032<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Center does have GPS units available for rent, please contact 518 658-2055 or <a href=\"mailto:dykenpond@gmail.com\">dykenpond@gmail.com<\/a> for more details or to schedule for a guided group experience.<\/p>\n<p>Useful Hints!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be sure that you enter the waypoints in the correct format<\/li>\n<li>GPSs can only get you so close given the accuracy, the remaining twenty or so feet is up to you.<\/li>\n<li>Bring a <a title=\"Trail Map\" href=\"https:\/\/dykenpond.org\/?page_id=1175\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Trail Map<\/a>, all of these caches are designed around using the trail system.<\/li>\n<li>Be sure to bring anything that you take hiking, like water and snacks.<\/li>\n<li>#1&nbsp; &#8220;The Sentinels&#8221;&nbsp; is located by two large rocks and hidden among a small rock pile. Clear flat container.<\/li>\n<li>#2&nbsp; &#8220;Pot of Gold&#8221; is near a birds nest by the water. Large green container.<\/li>\n<li>#3&nbsp; &#8220;Snag it while you Can&#8221;&nbsp; is about 6 feet above the ground on top of a dead tree. Tube&nbsp; container.<\/li>\n<li>#4&nbsp;&nbsp;&#8220;Northern&nbsp; Newt Nursery&#8221; is located under a rock on the far side of the water. Tupperware container.<\/li>\n<li>&#8220;Land of 1,000 Dead Trees&#8221;&nbsp;&nbsp;is located in a clear Tupperware container around ground level. Keep your feet dry as you search for this cache.
