This shorebird can be found near Dustin Swamp along the long trail. However, don’t be searching for them in the trees- the American Woodcock spends most of their time hidden on the forest floor. If you do happen to stumble upon a female nesting take note of her behavior as she flies away. Similar to killdeer, this ground-nesting bird will feign injury to lead you away from their nests.
