 Environmental Educator at Camp 

Job Description:     Are you looking to make a difference in a child’s life? Do you enjoy being in nature while spending time outdoors, having a fun packed experience all while honing your environmental teaching skills? Join our crew of enthusiastic environmental educators for the 2024 season at the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center. Teach environmental education programs, adventure based activities and gain valuable skills in teaching environmental education.  Must have a positive attitude, demonstrate kindness and compassion to children and be a good role model.  $17-$19 per hour.

Experience needed:  Two years college minimum. BS degree in Natural Sciences or Education preferred. Experience working with kids and some outdoor skills preferred.

Job Requirements:    Must be able to perform physical work in the outdoors, lift 30 pounds and hike three miles in a reasonable timeframe. Must possess a valid driver’s license and pass a background check to work with youth.

Camp Counselors: Two positions

Job Description:  The Outdoor Adventure Camp held at the Dyken Pond Environmental Education Center is an adventure based nature day camp. We are seeking enthusiastic, fun-loving, responsible candidates who are willing to make summer camp a fantastic experience for our campers. The Summer Camp Counselors have on-site responsibility for camper supervision and teaching environmental education programs to youth ages 6 – 13. This position is assigned a wide variety of tasks and duties that must be performed to insure the efficient operation of the camp program.

Experience Needed:  One or two years of college preferred. Experience working with kids and some outdoor skills preferred.  Must have a positive attitude, demonstrate kindness and compassion towards children and be a good role model.  Must be comfortable working in the outdoors, getting dirty and handling icky things and pass a background check to work with youth.

Part-time Weekend Park Worker

Job Description: Work 14 hours on weekends. Must have excellent communication and public relations skills. This position will greet visitors to the Center, inform the public about the Center, be responsible for renting boats and perform light grounds upkeep such as gardening and mowing lawns.
July 1 – August 16

Summer Camp Director

Job Description:  The Outdoor Adventure Camp is a four week program for youth ages 6- 13.  Each week of camp has up to 20 campers and 6 staff. We are looking for an enthusiastic camp director to manage the daily operation of camp. Camp Director is responsible for: the care, safety and supervision of staff and campers,  keeping records and teaching nature activities as needed.  Must have qualified experience supervising children and excellent interpersonal and communication skills. July 8 – August 16 with one additional week before camp to be scheduled. $22 – $25 per hour.  Job Requirements:    Must be able to perform physical work in the outdoors, lift 30 pounds and hike three miles in a reasonable timeframe.  Must pass a background check to work with youth.
